AT THE MOMENT WE ARE IN PORTLAND WITH A 4-6 PIECE BAND PLAYING A BLEND OF KLEZMER, BALKAN, GYPSY JAZZ AND SWING TUNES, WE WILL BE BASED OUT OF HERE FOR THE REST OF THIS YEAR, WE WILL BE PLAYING SHOWS AROUND TOWN AND TOURING THE WEST COAST, IF YOU WOULD LIKE US TO PLAY WITH OR FOR YOU GET IN CONTACT WITH US…

The _Orkestra? is a theatrical convergence of high energy music and performance art. Fusing the sounds of gypsy jazz, swing and world music, with the styles of vaudeville cabaret and circus arts, it’s not just a band, it’s an Orkestra. This project came together over the rainy winter months in a radically self sustaining art collective just outside of Portland Oregon. The members of The _Orkestra are world travelers and rambling artist types whos combined experiences and varied performance backgrounds create the perfect chemistry for an amazing show. The musical accompaniment consists of instruments including banjo, drums, fiddle, washtub and acoustic bass, cello, clarinet, trumpet, guitar, mandolin, flute, accordion and vocals. During a performance you’ll be astounded by acrobatics and dazzled by aerial trapeze feats, while spectacular fireballs fly overhead and girls dance with the flames, stilt walkers are abound, juggling clowns, daring balancing acts, mini bikes, and maybe even a tall bike joust all twisted around a slapstick vaudevillian show.
At the moment we are travlin with a 4-6 piece band playing gypsy jazz, eastern european and klezmer tunes… we are putting together our tour for this summer and are always looking for new acts and amazing musicians… we have a free standing trapeze and a veggie tour bus. contact us if interested.
